Dr. Crane is a fellowship-trained geriatric medicine physician who has special expertise in Alzheimer’s disease and the related dementias. She completed her undergraduate degree at Yale University and her medical school training at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. Crane completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. While at the Univ. of Penn, she was honored as a new investigator by the NIMH for her work in the behavioral symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Crane was a founding member in the International Society for Frontotemporal Dementias.
Recently, she has been asked to join the leadership at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) to develop the national outreach on the impact of imaging in Alzheimer’s and related dementia care.
Dr. Crane is the medical director and founder of the Genesis Neuroscience Clinic. The Clinic provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment and clinical trial opportunities for those with cognitive impairment and the neurodegenerative dementias.
She is the site Principal Investigator for the Imaging Dementia-Evidence for Amyloid Scanning (IDEAS) Study. Dr. Crane is also the sub-investigators for multiple ongoing Alzheimer’s disease trials.
Prior to Genesis Neuroscience, Dr. Crane was the Director of Clinical Research as well as the Associate Director of Cole Neuroscience Clinic at University of Tennessee Medical Center.
She continues to teach as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at both the Graduate School of Medicine at UT-Knoxville as well as at the UT Health Science Center Memphis.
She is on the Board of Trustees at the Knoxville Museum of Art and the Board of Directors at Alzheimer’s Tennessee.
She has received numerous clinical and research awards in the areas of Alzheimer’s disease, geriatric depression, frontotemporal dementia and end-of-life care. She has given over a hundred talks in the region and nationally on the dementias and geriatric medicine topics.
Amber Miner Tayman is a Family Nurse Practitioner that graduated from the University of Tennessee in December 2013.
Before coming to Genesis Neuroscience, she worked as a primary care provider for geriatric patients and is excited to now specialize in dementia and dementia-related care under Dr. Crane.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Amber earned a Master of Public Health degree and worked as a community health educator at the health department.
She is passionate about patient education and looks forward to making a difference in the lives of this often-underserved patient population and their families.
Sarah White attended Mary Washington College in 2004 where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Sarah then pursued her interest in nursing, graduating with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007 with her Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Nursing. In addition, she specialized in family health as part of her graduate education.
As a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner licensed in Tennessee, Sarah has spent the past 11 years providing care for patients of all ages through the following medical specialties: pediatric medicine, family medicine, addiction treatment, and geriatric home health. Sarah is an active member of her community and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to focus on geriatric dementia care with fellow NP, Amber Tayman, under the leadership of Dr. Monica Crane.
